Three days after telling me my novel The Ghost of Neil Diamond had been printed at Lightning Source, the book appeared on Amazon, Blackwells, Word Power Books and Borders. This is the kind of service and efficiency you can expect from the youwriteon/Legend Press/Lightning Source connection. Throughout the different stages of self-publishing all communication has been courteous, speedy and understanding. I looked at many different self-publishing packages before deciding on this one; I got lucky because it came on stream just at the moment when I was ready. Self-publishing offers speed and control. With youwriteon/Legend Press you get a very competitive deal, the speed and control, and the security blanket that the Arts Council endorses youwriteon. You can have your own imprint at no extra cost, too. For example, What Tradition Books at www.whattradition.net.

Thank you, David, and many congratulations on your publishing. Tom at Legend Press will be pleased that you thought his work and service was good. I can claim little credit as he does all the setup. He showed me a copy recently and I thought it looked excellent. We hope your publishing and feedback will bode well as a stepping stone towards further success and mainstream publishing. Congratulations also on your other Top Ten entry today and member feedback. Ted

David, The book is very funny and I plan to buy a few for Christmas presents. I'm interested - does anyone send hard-copy manuscripts to traditional publishers any more? If so, why? Nick Macfie

David Milnes, Please see my post about around the peak books. It is a cunning plan. And you qualify immediately. I already have a promise of a review of Central Casting with The Correspondent, the magazine of the Foreign Correspondents' Club in Hong Kong (of which I am a member, even though I now live in Beijing). What sayest?
