Richie_d may have bagsied the YWO Tavern, but for now it seems this forum is mine (all mine!).

So I thought I should announce I'll be signing copies of Johnny Mackintosh and the Spirit of London in Harrod's children's bookstore (it's a Waterstone's) on Wednesday 23 July in the afternoon (from 3pm).

Great if any of you want to stop by and say hello. I'll even be giving out lovely Johnny Mackintosh badges with the books

Oh, balls. I would have come along, but I'm off on hols that day.

Hope it goes well. I'm 3/4s of the way through JMATSOL. It's a blast. I'll stick a review on Amazon when I've finished.

If I 'folded' would I be able to make your signing and go on holiday?

Hi Justine - big shame not to get to meet you there. Thanks so much for reading Johnny - hope you make it to the end. Not that I want to give anything away, but once you've read the whole book you will indeed know how to fold space and pop over over to Harrods!?

Happy holidays!

Wow, Harrods. Nice one.

Thanks JD. My thoughts exactly! I did sign copies at Hatchards on Piccadilly the other day , but that was basically me walking in off the street and saying who I was. This time, they've approached my publisher and asked for me to go over.

STOP PRESS!!!!

Sorry for the really late notice, but Harrods have mislaid their stock so the signing's been put back to Saturday (26 July) from 2.30.

Mega apologies if anyone was on their way. I hav only just heard myself.

Don't appologise for something out of your control, Keith. Look on the bright side; you will have more time to exercise those hand muscles. All the best for the big day, and happy signing.

Thanks Linda and Gwenda

Right now I've lost the will to live. Harrods (actually Waterstone's in Harrods) have had to cancel Saturday as well.

I'm sure it will happen at some point. I'm pretty sure no YWO would have been specially heading to Knightsbridge tomorrow afternoon, but if they were I hope they read this first. And though it's really not my fault, I apologize again!

Don't worry Keith, I'm sure they'll reorganise it again. Hopefully they'll give a bit more notice and a few of us might be able to arrange to meet up. Everyone's on holiday at the moment!
I've just looked at your reviews on Amazon. Fantastic. Well done, 5 stars, you must be so pleased! I also looked at the Bookbag review. Don't quite understand the issue with the title? But a great review too. So here's some of these, just to cheer you up!

Don't lose the will to live Keith. I'm half way through reading Johnny Mackintosh and it's a brilliant read. I'm certain this book is going to sell and sell. You start reading and it's hard to put the book down. I've not been able to do much reading over the past few days and I can't wait to get back to see what's happening. At 6.30 this morning I was wide awake, sipping tea and snatching a few reading minutes while the world was at peace. Enjoy every minute of your success. Linda

Hi Keith

I hope Harrods will be able to reschedule. It can take a lot of persistence, something we've found ourselves, but I hope if your publisher keeps up the contact that they'll be able to rearrange.

Keep at them, you can tell them that the UK's largest Arts Council site for new writers will add details of the signing on their home page if they will commit. I don't know if this will assist, but I always tend to keep in touch with people we make contact with to keep it fresh in their mind and help sell and advance the possibilities.

A lot of it is about self-promotion. You could mention we'd put Doug's Caligula on our homepage and he got up to 32 in the Amazon Top 50 for his genre over the following days. Most probably more due to the Scotsman article which mentioned him and the site (you could send the bookstores the scotsman article link) and other Random House publicity. However we've sometime found that in order to achieve the success something deserves e.g. Doug's or your novel's success, you really have to be persistent and sell the premise. For example, in this instance you or your publicist would sell the site as very big, Random House involvement, etc, and try to keep the momentum up to get the signings. Email me if you need anything further.

Ted
