Hi all,

Some of you might have noticed that I was trying to organise a meeting in Oxford. See post #41008
http://youwriteon.com/forum/Meeting-in-Oxford-Topic-9197-1.aspx

After exchanging views with a few members, I am looking to organise the said meeting on Sat 27th Sept.

I would be more enclined to go for the Christ Church Picture Gallery but nothing has been decided as of yet.

Anybody interested or wanting to ask questions can post here or email me directly at laurie_pdf@hotmail.fr

Yeah!

How old are your children? Are they old enough to write, in which case we could find something that would involve them as well?
Will you have a pushchair or sth like that? In which case we need to go somewhere accessible.
One of my favouritest place is the Science Museum. It should be fun enough for kids, and it is packed with writing material. We could then retreat to a pub or coffee place to grab drinks and cakes and do a little writing exercice, or, if the weather is nice go to one of the parks.
Afternoon would be best for me.
How exciting!

I'll be away this weekend, but the idea of this kind of get together appeals to me. I'm not so far from Oxford that I can't come in for a day.

Hi Gavin,

How did it go? You must have had a good time on the punt.
Sorry for not turning up. I have been sick for about a week and relatives decided to descend on us unexpectedly on Saturday so we had to clean, cook, caugh our heads off, etc.
Whereabout do you live? Is it very far from Oxford?
I hope we'll be able to meet another time.
Meanwhile I'll have a look at Leaving Maria.
Hope it didn't upset you...
Laurie.

Of course not! We played football and cricket in the Parks and had an hour and a half in a punt, which started well and then got.........worse. Saw the restaurant which was in The Restauarant. My oldest and I may open a restaurant of our own one day hehe.

Anyway, great weather, and my children love Oxford, and also the change of scene, cos their mother (my ex-wife) is banned for 16 months for drinkdriving.

We'd have a better writing opportunity on the alternate weekends when I am on my own!
Hope you're feeling better now.

O/T - WHich restaurant from The Restauarant did you see? I'm a big fan of the show. Never will it be a dream of mine, but it's good to see other people chasing their own, getting out there and actually doing it.

Thanks, I'll look out for it.

BTW - did anything come of the plan to create a writers meeting in OXford?
