Need a lift with your morning coffee? I recommend this story, a tale of a couple fed up with the grind of England and seeking to emigrate to South West France. Some of the observations are exquisite, and lines such as;

"We just had to get out of here. We were stuck good and fast to the fly-paper and if we did nothing, life would soon be over. " convey a melancholy humour that really hits the nail on the head.

Try it for yourself- good stuff!

Many thanks Joe 90! You have really cheered me up. I have now updated my biography to show that my 'Paradis' book is in fact an autobiography, with all the unintentional humour that ensued when two self-deprecating, pessimistic people from the West Midlands moved their lives abroad. For us, nothing was ever the same again.

I thought I detected reality in there. Good luck with it.
