Morse Author Colin Dexter pens Foreword to YouWriteOn member's story collection

YouWriteOn.com member Angela Reid and friends have published a collection of short stories with a foreword by Inspector Morse author Colin Dexter.

View Book at Waterstones

Angela Reid informs us, "I think we have been very lucky having the support of Colin Dexter this time who has written our Foreword. Katie Fforde supported our first volume The Sixpenny Debt and Other Oxford Stories. We are hoping very much that this second volume The Lost College and Other Oxford Stories will do even better than the first, which has actually sold around two thousand copies so far.

I think trying to produce truly professional looking books with good quality paper and beautiful cover illustrations by a very supportive well known artist, Valerie Petts, was time very well spent. I also think being aware of our market has helped enormously. By having Oxford in the title, the first volume has been a must for all local libraries, gift and bookshops, including one of our best customers, Waterstones, and we hope the same will apply to the second collection. We also hope the publication of a second book will boost the sales of the original volume, and so far that seems to be happening.

Of course having good stories is also vital and as we are all local authors writing about where we live, we have had a wonderful time letting our imaginations run free in an environment we are familiar with. Being part of a group also helps as you get feedback about your story - though I submitted my story to Youwriteon before I let anyone else read it, and it was the very valuable input from this website that gave me the confidence to add the story ' A Very Modern Affair' to the latest collection."

Congratulations to Angela!

Congratulations, Angela et al, that's brilliant.

Well done on getting Colin Dexter's approval and foreward, that can't do anything but help. Best of luck with the book.
