Many congratulations to the June Top Ten, and thank you to everyone else for their great stories and participation. Once again, the standard was very high in and around the Top Ten, and we are seeing some really great writing with a huge amount of promise.

The Full June Top Ten, and also the BestSeller Chart longevity entries can be viewed on the following link:

Huge congratulations everyone!

A question, Ted, that I'm sure others have asked/will ask. What happens to this month's top tenners who were also in last month's top 10? do they get 2 RH reviews, does their place get taken by number 11, or are there fewer reviews?

Congratulations June top tenners.

Good point, Tommi. I've just had a look and it seems to be some of the same titles there each month.

A story which is in the Top Ten at the start of the month for more than one month running can get more than one review from Random House e.g. if a writer is in the Top Ten at the start of May and June s/he will get reviews from a Random House reader both months. The Random House Readers' Group thought it was a good idea so that Top Ten writers may get feedback from more than one Random House reviewer.

Now that is a good idea.

A great idea. Some clever soul is now going to spend ages weighing up whether they should try and get into the Top 5 and get a professional crit or drop slightly down from the Top 5 so they don't get bumped into the Bestsellers but get another RH review the next month (when they DO want to be in the Top 5 to get a Prof Crit before being bumped onto Bestsellers for lengevity).

This site is almost as much fun for mathematicians as it is for writers!!

I don't stand much chance for either and maths isn't my strongpoint. So, at least I can just sit back and watch the fun.

As someone who has published four novels professionally, and has the beginning of his latest on this site, I am more than a bit perplexed by the rankings. I've read things that were childish and awful that have appeared in the top ten or twenty. And I've read some of the top ten and found them vaporous and silly, not to mention, poorly written. And my novel beginning has been sandbagged from the onset by low scores. I believe that people have figured out how to game the system. There, I've stated my opinion. So heap on the scorn. I don't give a damn. Something is wrong with this whole setup. To the so-called professional publishers who are supposedly monitoring this whole operation, I offer my condolence.

Have a good day!

I've just read your reviews and your book seems to be described as needing work. That hardly sounds like sand-bagging.

It is indeed, and in my view unwarranted, but then I would say that having three pieces in the Best Sellers. I did look at the comments given to the work of this poster and found them to be helpful, but not overly complimentary. Perhaps that means we are lacking in judgement, but to attack those who are proud of their work reaching the top ten seems both small-minded and tainted with sour grapes. To quote the original poster, I feel the same way about my post: There, I've stated my opinion. So heap on the scorn. I don't give a damn. I'm proud of the work I have on here that has reached the Best Sellers and am aggrieved at this attack.
