Hi,

I'm not sure if I've posted this in the right place but I'll ask anyway ...

I was trying to take advantage of the free publishing offer, but since my book is rhyming text for children and I think will possibly not meet the number of pages required, was thinking I could upload it to the site just to get members opinions.
But, because it comes in at about 2,500 words in totality I would be uploading it all - so would that mean I could shoot myself in the foot if in future somebody (haha) did actually want to publish it?

Just thought I'd ask ... this little roundabout I'm on is sending me a bit dizzy ...

Hi Dollywagon, currently we cover fiction only at present for the review process. To be fully informed on rights issues, contact an organisation such as The Society of Authors. In general, if a book is considered very marketable by a publisher, and they think they will make money, they are not going to be concerned if it has been on an Internet site. For example, we published a book called Bufflehead Sisters which was available to buy by paperback, it sold very well and resulted in a two book deal with Penguin, who will publish their own version and another book by the writer. If a publisher thinks they will do well with a book then this generally over rides others considerations as long as the the author retains all rights and has not entered into any other agreement which may conflict with their ability to sell a book, neither of which apply by uploading or publishing here. If in doubt, seek further specialist advice.

Thanks Ted,
What you say makes good sense.
