I've just joined YouWriteOn and posted my first short story today and have just read my first review. I must admit I didn't find it very helpful and found some of the comments rather cutting. I am looking forward to reviewing other people's work and know the ethos of YouWriteOn to be encouraging and constructive and hope that my reviews of other people's work to be in this vein.

No! No! Vivi, you are not allowed to grumble until you have been here a year, or completed two hundred reviews (no more than 5% of which have been removed by disgruntled writers) whichever comes first.

Didn't you see this rule in the FAQ?

Oh dear - do you suppose she took me seriously? I am such a hardened Youwriteoner, the review didn't look that bad to me - though it was one of those curt, dismissive ones, with brief instructions as to what she should change.
