I heard from an agent (from one of the most renowned US agencies) that the bar is 5000 books sold through POD. Anything below 1000 is detrimental to the author's career (means better keep quiet). Sales exceeding 5000 can be used as marketing tool.

Numbers are just numbers - it's all about how you PR and market it. (The book and the numbers sold!)
