4 Days to Review Reading Assignments Function Appeal

Donate to get this function added more quickly

Recently we asked if members would be interested in donating towards getting new programming functions in on YouWriteOn and a number of members kindly said that they would. We are ready to proceed with this. The first function we discussed was lowering the time to review Reading Assignments from 7 day to 4 days. Overall, members felt this would encourage further the number of reviews. We have discussed this with the programmers, and to add this to the site would cost £100 overall, this would include the programming, changing of text and related pages, and uploading to the site. This would take between 5 to 7 days to complete by a programmer in their off-duty time after their normal work.

Once we successfully move forward with this, we can look at other functions members are keen on.

We will give a running total every few days as to the level of donations raised, and we are posting now to see how much we might be able to raise over the bank holiday weekend. A donation doesn't give ownership of the site or anything to that value, but it will help ensure we will see functions in a lot quicker for your use.

YouWriteOn.com's programming is largely supported on a voluntary basis. As the site has has grown so much our programmers kindly help out the site and its community as and when they can, and sometimes new functions can take several months to introduce because of this. We thought of the idea of 'Support A New Function' if members would like to see functions bought in much more quickly while also gaining the benefit of the function.


Every time we check the donations and one has come in we will add an emoticon or perhaps something less annoying.

We were out at meetings yesterday, but the donations flooded in .. £10, £5, £15, £10, and another £10 and £15 .. which brings us to a grand total of .. £150!!!!!

We have gone over target!! We would really like to thank everyone for their kind donations, which will really be of benefit to the site and members. Once all payments are cleared, the programmer will begin, which should be during next week and this will take between 5 to 7 working days to complete.

We'd like to suggest, if those that donated during the past one or two days are willing, that we look at what we can do next for expediting functions. We thought either the 7 or 10 reviews to feature in the Top Ten, or function to display the lowest review could be the next function candidates. We will need to speak to the programmer as to the time and cost of each of these. Also, for example, the '7 or 10 reviews to feature in top Ten function' would need to come in at the start of a month once the previous months results were in to avoid problems. If you have donated over the past couple of days email us your preference, and we will take this into consideration alongside other member feedback and the practicalities of both functions.

In the meantime, many, many thanks to everyone who donated, and we will keep on working to try to introduce as many valuable features to the site as we can.
